It does not make sense to write about losing weight and getting in shape unless I also write about getting closer to God.
I have always said there are three disciplines every Christian should practice in order to grow in their intimacy with the Lord. We should PRAY. We should READ. We should SERVE. If you will spend time every day praying to the Lord, reading His Word and serving others, you will definitely grow in your faith.
Provided below is an email I received from a CrossPointer recently. I asked them permission to share this email with you. This email explains why it is so important to read and study your Bible.
Good morning Ryan,
I’m 49 yrs old and have been in church all my life, and I’m ashamed to say I have never read the Bible from start to finish, even though I’ve tried many times. And I am a avid reader probably 30 books a year. But it is with great joy that I tell you I am going to finish reading my Bible cover to cover this week. It has been such a blessing for me, and I am closer to my God than ever before. Thank you for challenging me to read my Bible every day. It is now a very important part of my day. I’m excited to start again and next year I’m going to use my King James Version.
In Christ,
Laura
Now do you see why I challenge CrossPoint to read through the Bible every year?
Our Bible Reading Plans are available at the Connector. The cost for the booklet is $2. We will have a new booklet for each quarter in 2012. We will also make the reading plan available on the CrossPoint webpage.
