Step #2: PUT ON YOUR GAME FACE

The second step to losing weight and getting in shape requires you to put on your game face. In other words, you must get serious. You must become passionate. You’ve got to get motivated. You’ve got to sell out, jump in and go for it on eating and exercising.

For instance, I put on my game face when it comes to consuming calories. I can safely lose 2 pounds per week by consuming approximately 1500-1700 calories a day. Thus, I put on my game face each time I eat so I stay within my calorie count.

Each morning I eat a powerbar of some type that typically runs 200 calories or less. My lunchtime meal does not exceed 600 calories. That can be done with a nice size salad or with vegetables. Then, I eat my final meal of the day remaining under 600 calories. Putting on my game face reminds me to be diligent in my effort to consumer less than 1500 calories.

When I first started my plan, I was shocked to learn how many calories I was consuming in one meal. I was more than shocked, I was embarrassed. A meal at Outback, Red Lobster or Olive Garden would shatter my total daily intake. So I had to cut back and start to eat right by putting on my game face.

Another example of putting on your game face has to do with your exercise plan. If you are going to get in shape by losing weight, you must start exercising. And to exercise you are going to have to sweat. You are going to have to get nasty, sweaty and dirty. And you are going to have to enjoy it.

My exercise is running. Some may call what I do jogging. Others may even call it speed walking. Whatever you think it is I call it running.

Running does not come naturally to me. Just look at me, I do not have a runners body. But I still run. As I have said many times before I like to run because it allows me to forget.

One must make up their mind they are going to exercise and then they must do it. And here is a great rule of thumb when it comes to exercising: the more you do it, the more you want to do it. The more you exercise, the more you want to exercise.

So, there you have it. My second step includes putting on my game face. If you are going to lose weight and get in shape you must get motivated.
