This weekend, over 200 students and adults will be involved in the annual DEEPER weekend at CrossPoint. 19 houses will be used by CrossPoint members to host students for a weekend of Bible study and fellowship. This year, we’ve invited Jonathan Clark; Campus Minister at Southeastern Louisiana University, to be our guest speaker. Our musical worship will be led by the Jordan Mitchell Band from Atlanta, GA. I love D-Now weekends.
This year, we are challenging our students to go DEEPER in the area of training in Godliness. We’ve taken the idea of SPRING TRAINING as a way of connecting students to the truth of 1 Timothy 4:8. Paul writes, “for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” Our prayer is for our students to joyfully pursue training in the DAILY PRACTICE of their faith. Please join us in prayer as we anticipate the Gospel to saturate the hearts of teenagers. Our goal is for Christ to be glorified as lives are saved and transformed for His Name’s sake.
Why I love D-Now weekends…
- Students will have an opportunity to hear, study, and grow in the beautiful truths of God’s Word.
- Students will have an opportunity to connect with others in their grade.
- Students will have an opportunity to see healthy homes with healthy families (displayed by our gracious hosts).
- Students will have an opportunity to hear from college leaders that are walking in the faith after high school.
- Students will have an opportunity to worship the Risen One.
My gracious Savior used a D-Now weekend back in 2000 while I was a senior in high school. I’m still grateful for Johnny Boback; my D-Now leader, who challenged me to pursue Christ daily. I started to think about student ministry during that weekend. Now, I get to lead weekends like that…as a student minister. What a blessing.
