It’s interesting the way we describe or promote our churches. “Come to my church. You will love the music,” says one church member. Another might say, “My church is non-denomination. We don’t worry about all that other stuff. Come worship with us.” A few might say, “We promote people, not doctrine.”
I, for one, am glad people invite others church. Every believer in Christ should all be busy inviting others to hear the gospel.
For hundreds of years, however, the church took the New Testament instructions at face value. Early in the Reformation the true church was known by three characteristics.
1.The preaching of pure doctrine.
2. The administration of the ordinances (baptism & Lord’s Supper).
3. The exercise of church discipline.
