Why do you always have to write stuff like that? Why can’t you quit preaching… just for a moment… and say something good? Why do you always have to meddle in other people’s business? Wouldn’t it have been better to be positive instead of being so ascerbic? These kind of things really aren’t your business anyway!

Those are some of the things I have heard from complainers. And thanks for the link. So no… I wasn’t refering to this post. ; )

Dear Ryan a.k.a Big Daddy,

Thank you so much for your prayers this past week. The emails and cards were so encouraging, especially as we went through our time of prayer and fasting. We left the men’s conference and went right into a prayer vigil from 12 noon until 12 midnight. I am actually writting this to you as it ends. God has revealed Himself to us in such a deeep way this week. Your church praying for us and the men’s conference was a large part of that. You have a great church and you are a great Pastor serving a Holy God. May God’s hand continue to be upon you as you seek His heart. Thanks again, Rodney Davis

Beth has been a sister through all of this for us. It has been great to have her at my side. I told her recently we needed to get together, but I meant for coffee! God allows us to laugh to ease the pain, which is also a reminder of what really matters in life.

I had a plan for my funeral ready many years ago. (I have worked in the funeral business.) In the envelope “In the Event of My Death” I added letters for everyone in my life. I update the letters from time to time. The envelope was found tonight after Beth left. Her letter was on top. I think I should give it to her now rather than sealing it back up. I have been given the chance to hand it to her and receive a smile and a knowing hug that we share a life of eternity together.

It is difficult to not ask why, it is just human nature, but we have to realize that God is infinitely smarter than we are and most of the time he couldn’t possibly fill us in on why in a way that we could understand.

Great post! This is the way to read the Bible. Not necessarily for speed to check off a book (That is beneficial in many ways), but to understand. To know God. To encounter Him. To have His Truth pushed deep into the soul. Read Scripture… re-read it… then read it again, and again, and again, and…..
